Rat Lab Badges How to Unlock

Rat Lab tracks progress with a tight badge set that mirrors the three-role fantasy: survive as a subject, break containment, leave the facility, advance science, catalog specimens, and lock down escapees. This guide covers all six community-facing badges—Test Subject, Through the Wall, Out of the Lab, For Science, New Specimen, and Caught One—with practical how-to notes. Badge UIs can rename flavor text after patches; re-check Updates if an icon looks new.

Badges are milestones, not paywalls. There are still no confirmed promo codes that grant badge skips (Codes). Gamepasses can make some conditions easier (Gamepasses, Tools & Unlocks), but every badge below is earnable by learning roles and routes.

Test Subject

How to think about it: the onboarding badge. Join a live session in the real place (Official Links), spawn into the lab fantasy, and participate long enough for the subject identity to register. You do not need a perfect escape on minute one.

Tips:

  • Confirm you are in Evil Science’s Rat Lab (place 105904727825849), not a copycat.
  • Complete the Getting Started checklist so you actually touch role UI instead of AFKing in a corner.
  • If it does not pop immediately, finish a short objective—move through containment, open a tool, or survive the first Security wave.

Avoid: buying random “badge gamepasses” from strangers; Roblox badges come from gameplay conditions.

Through the Wall

How to think about it: mid-escape breach progress. It lines up with pushing past early containment during the three-stage escape described in How to Escape and mapped on Map.

Tips:

  • Play Lab Rat with a route plan for stages one–two before greedily looting.
  • Leave before Net/Baton players (~5m) form a stack on your door.
  • Use broken LOS; snipers one-shot non-vest rats if you peek like a highlight reel.
  • Vest value (~+50 HP) helps, but positioning matters more for breach badges.

Practice: run two sessions that only aim for wall/containment progress without forcing the final exit.

Out of the Lab

How to think about it: the headline escape badge—clear stage three and the exit. Optional revenge afterward is a separate loop and can throw the win if you re-enter unprepared.

Tips:

  • Prefer earlier sessions before Rifles (~22m), Mouse Trap, Shotguns/Turret (~30m) lock lanes.
  • Study security room approaches and secret-base adjacent paths on the Map page.
  • Abort revenge until the badge is safe if you are badge hunting first.
  • Mobile rats should read Controls—camera spins kill exit timing.

Party tip: one rat draws Security while another commits the exit route; do not all peek the same sniper hall.

For Science

How to think about it: scientist milestone for running the lab’s experiment fantasy—mutations, tools, and surviving long enough to complete science goals.

Tips:

  • Main Scientists and follow Scientist Guide.
  • Learn Mutation Index systems without confusing them for promo codes (Mutations, Codes).
  • Named video callouts include Verity and Dwarfism (Tiny Verity combo)—use what you observe live; do not invent a full colour bible.
  • Hazmat Suit (R$249) and Mutation Gun (R$299) are comfort, not requirements (Gamepasses).
  • Watch the session clock: late OP Mutations (~60m) change risk for everyone in the chamber.

New Specimen

How to think about it: specimen / Index progress—cataloguing or advancing a new entry rather than only blasting tools.

Tips:

  • Play methodical science rounds instead of pure PvP.
  • Keep notes on which chambers you used (Map).
  • All Mutation Codes (R$2499, Sep 14 wave) is Index convenience for whales—it is not a redeemable promo pack.
  • Coordinate so Security is not deleting your subject mid-scan; call peels or pick quieter minutes.

Avoid: third-party “specimen unlock” sites. They are phishing.

Caught One

How to think about it: Security’s signature—successfully capture an escaped (or escaping) Lab Rat.

Tips:

  • Unlock or wait for Net/Baton (~5m) and learn pre-aim on common doors (Security Guide).
  • Count shots differently on vest rats (~+50 HP) versus non-vest targets.
  • On mobile, expect harder captures—win with positioning (Controls).
  • Late session: traps and turrets help, but early catches are easier badge farming.
  • Stronger Leash (R$99, Sep 12) and Armored Guard (R$249) are optional power, not mandatory.

Revenge angle: rats returning armed are riskier captures—set Mouse Trap / Turret denial on return paths (Revenge).

Efficient badge tour (one evening)

  1. Join as Lab Rat → secure Test Subject / breach progress toward Through the Wall.
  2. Commit a clean exit for Out of the Lab; skip revenge if time-limited.
  3. Requeue Scientist → push For Science and New Specimen with Index focus.
  4. Requeue Security → farm Caught One in the first fifteen minutes.
  5. Log anything that failed after a place update (Updates).

Chase badges with intent, then return to normal play. The six-badge set is a tour of Rat Lab’s fantasy—subject, breach, exit, science, specimen, capture—not a reason to ignore vest math or session resets.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers for Rat Lab players.

How many Rat Lab badges does this guide cover?

Six: Test Subject, Through the Wall, Out of the Lab, For Science, New Specimen, and Caught One.

Which badges are for Lab Rats?

Through the Wall and Out of the Lab are escape-focused. Test Subject often comes early for subjects/rats as well.

Do I need All Mutation Codes to get New Specimen?

No. The R$2499 pass is Index convenience. Specimen progress is still a gameplay condition, not a paid badge unlock.

Can promo codes grant badges?

No confirmed promo codes exist for Rat Lab right now, and badges normally come from in-experience actions.

Is Caught One easier early or late in a session?

Early sessions are often easier before rats gear up for revenge. Late captures need traps, guns, and respect for vest HP.
